It was a splendid night again at Smash Wine Bar and Bistro in Downtown Muskegon as we rolled out the 14th episode of Muskegon Tonight Live!! A cold February night didn't keep a decent crowd away as Restaurant Week was kicking off in Muskegon and everyone enjoyed the great food and drink that Smash is known for.
Our guests were awesome. We opened with a visit from the General Manager of Smash April who came on to talk all about Restaurant Week and what Smash will be offering along with their extensive wine list and we even dug into the idea of these seltzers that everyone seems to enjoy and Andy has not had any experience with. Up next, we were highly honored to welcome Muskegon Chief of Police Jeff Lewis who talked very openly and honestly about his career, what being in charge of his department is like and how being a police officer is in a day of constant social media bombardment and pressure. A great interview! Jon Covington was next, founder of Men of Color Read and he spoke of his efforts to help young readers in his program see the power of reading and how his group heads to schools to show younger people by example that reading opens a world of opportunity. We also talked about Jon's powerful film "Black Man" which is gaining nationwide acclaim and all based on Muskegon men and their experiences. Lisa Tyler was up next from Senior Resources of West Michigan. They debuted a new video series in partnership with the Muskegon Channel and Channel 96 in Muskegon to help those who can benefit from the incredible offerings of the Senior Millage. You'll find the link below! A visit from Pete McCarthy is always fun to talk about Muskecon! Muskegon's comic and toy convention at the Delta By Marriott on March 21st and we wrapped up with comedian David Colbert from Fresh Ghost Comedy who left the crowd in stitches!
