June this year will bring a lot of relief to many, especially those who enjoy outdoor activities like a nice round of golf at Chase Hammond June 12th to benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lakeshore!  Last year, they were able to get one in in the fall, but like most anything else a revised schedule, some spins on what was and what is going to happen have had to be factored in and one thing has remained constant.  The work that Big Brothers Big Sisters does for the kids who need their help as well as the adults that help those kids by being a friend, mentor and just all around awesome individual.

Denyel McCallister is the Executive Director of BBBS of the Lakeshore and 2020 was no easier on the organization than anyone else.  They had to flip their events around, they had to go digital on meetings with Bigs and Littles and they had to be innovative in the way that they raised the $1200-$1400 it takes to help provide all the necessary things needed for their matches.  Things like background checks on households, driving record checks and more.  It all adds up quick, but it's also invaluable to the work that goes on because so many kid would grow up without that balance in their life offered by the endeared organization that's led the way in helping young people for generations. bbbs logoClick Here to Register Your Team for June 12th

This years golf outing has a fun twist.  There's all the usual mulligans, raffles, games at holes and of course some refreshments available for breakfast and lunch.  You'll find the award ceremony with trophies and awards at the end of the day and a silent auction of things to help the cause, but the biggy... a $25,000 hole in one contest!  $25 LARGE if you drop one in from the tee!  Now, not to say that Muskegon is place that's known for it's generosity, but the last big raffle that went on, the $10K prize went right back to the organization.  Imagine a $25,000 donation back to an organization you're already on hand to support?

Denyel and I sat down to talk about all that's gone on with the program as well as what to expect from the golf outing on June 12th and some of the other fun Summer and Fall events coming up, including the return of Bowl for Kids Sake.  Take a listen to our talk about what's been going on with BBBS of the Lakeshore!

A day on the beautiful Chase Hammond Golf Course, a cause with so much meaning and purpose and a rich tradition of being able to give back to kids who might not otherwise get a chance to know what it is to have that valuable, personal relationship with someone who can help them navigate some pretty rough waters as they grow.  It's always our great pleasure to meet up and help share the cause of BBBS of the Lakeshore.  It's your turn now.  Get involved and be the difference.
