There's a superhero in all of us.  We all have the capacity to care about a cause or a mission that deeply touches us for one reason or another.  We don't often stop and think about it, but give yourself a moment of pause.  What is it to you?  Is it your desire to beat cancer?  Maybe to be a champion for shelter animals?  How about your kids?  You'd surely run in to a burning house for them!  Thus YOU too are a superhero!

Well, one thing we're really passionate about here, it the mission behind Every Woman's Place in Muskegon and their quest to end domestic violence and help those effected by the trauma that's brought about by it.  The numbers are still sadly staggering as to just how deep the need is for the work EWP does in Muskegon.  Even the pandemic has added to the already heavy work load they have with people being isolated, income limited and unable to get out of a situation that they are in where abusive behavior is victimizing them.  It's a cycle that keeps repeating quite often and the pressures of life in today's day and age are mounting. pop ticketsClick Here for Tickets to Power of the Purse

EWP has been holding their own through it all.  Last year, the Power of the Purse took on a little different kind of motif.  With the restrictions and unknown around the pandemic, the event was moved outside and televised as opposed to the runway that's typically found.  Fricano's Event Center was the place, and will be again this year.  But hopefully the numbers stay low and we can get back to somewhat a sense of normal with this signature event to  raise the funds needed to help the people EWP serves.  The luxury purse auction is the centerpiece.  Brands like Coach, Gucci, Prada and Vuitton.  The deals and steals auction.  Great food and drink, a mobile auction and a lot of true superhero's will be about to help add to the fun and raise the money needed for this essential work.  It's a great time for sure, but the purpose behind it all is to protect the most vulnerable among us.

Elisa Hopper is the Development Director for EWP.  We met up Downtown Muskegon to discuss the purpose and party.  Take a listen and plan on getting tickets to this amazing event October 14th at Fricano's on Muskegon Lake.

The stage is set. The superhero's are donning their capes, polishing up the symbols on their chests and getting ready to make a huge difference in the lives of those effected by domestic violence.  We stands resolute with the mission and people of EWP because no one should suffer abuse physically or sexually when what is sought is love.  We are committed to their mission to stop the hurt as we all should be.  We'll see you at Power of the Purse October 14th.
