We're back for the thrid installment of Dog Blessed with Jodi Jarvis-Therrian on the Muskegon Channel.  Jodi is a certified dog trainer and operates Dog Blessed with her partner Paula Smith and their goal is simple.  Giving dogs their best life and with that, the owners of those dogs their best lives too with their canine friends.

This week, it's a focus on bringing in a puppy to the family and how to properly socialize them to their new surroundings.  An impressionable puppy is when you will be setting the tone for a life long relationship and a chance too to mitigate some of the undesirable behaviors that may come along with the age as well as an ideal time to help expose them to things they may encounter later on down the line as adult dogs.  Think about things like puppies that like to bite, nip and chew.  How about sensory exposure?  How will a puppy or adult dog react if they come across someone with an abundance of gear on like a back pack or work attire?

There are a number of ways that you can help socialize your puppy so that as they grow, you and your family can know what to expect and so can your dog!  Jodi explains it this week in Dog Blessed on the Muskegon Channel!

A reward based learning system is one of Jodi's first lessons.  We're so very fortunate to have Jodi as a contributor and her lessons are a great start to a lifelong relationship with your dog!  If you'd like to know more or look into advanced training options with Dog Blessed, you can link up with Jodi by clicking below.  Our special thanks as well to Must Love Dogs and Clock Timeless Pets for helping bring Jodi to you.  Make sure you send them a not of thanks for supporting local programming.
