It's another great edition of Dog Blessed with Jodi Jarvis-Therrian on the Muskegon Channel! It's brought to you by the CBD Store of Michigan, Clock's Timeless Pets and Must Love Dogs in Grand Haven. This week, it's a show focused on some behavioral things that can not only be irritating but expensive when it comes to your pet. Digging!
Some dogs are natural diggers. A quick bit of online research shows that heavy-coated spitz-type dogs, such as Huskies and Chow Chows, dig during hot weather to create pits to help them stay cool. Earth dogs — those bred to dig tunnels to get at their prey, such as short-legged Terriers and Dachshunds — are following their instincts to find gophers, moles, or other burrowing rodents. Olaf is one of those heavy coated dogs and in this weeks episode, you will get a first hand look at just what kind or work a dog the size of Olaf can do when they set their mind to turning some dirt and finding a spot to lay down to cool off.
What do do? Discipline? Tie the pet up? Well, you have to keep in mind here that you're working against instinct and pleasure seeking. Tough to try and swim upstream and as Jodi points out, taking away something that your pet truly enjoys....is that what Dog Blessed is really about? No, not so much.
Toward the end, you'll get to meet the pet of the week up for adoption at the Muskegon Humane Society and of course, this episode is filled to the brim with great advice for you to help make your life with your pet as good as it can be. Here comes episode 23 of Dog Blessed on the Muskegon Channel.
A solution is always right there. It takes the drive and dedication of a seasoned pro like Jodi to help sort out some of the thoughts though sometimes. Figuring out the best way to manage your pooch when the yard has a hole half way dug to China in it isn't probably the "moment". It's the outreach like this that gets you ready in advance for such an occasion, or...it's a way to prevent it from happening in the first place because you walked away a smarter pet owner thanks to Jodi and Dog Blessed on the Muskegon Channel.
