This week on lunch date with Mari we got the chance to interview Corine Rose of Corine’s Cakes & Catering at the Lakes Mall.

Corine learned everything she knows in the kitchen from her grandmother and aunt and turned a hobby into a business venture in 1999. Corine made the move to the lakes mall in 2019, where she offers a delicious traditional Soulfood menu, her custom cakes and desserts. Corine stays true to the recipes passed down from generation and her recipes are award winning. In 2020, during the height of the pandemic, she participated in virtual Taste Of Muskegon and won Best New Bite.

Since winning and getting local recognition. Corine has taken off! This summer Corine has been at Taste Of Muskegon, the Lakeshore Art Festival, Bike Time, among many others. Corine is thankful to her family and employees have become family for helping her successfully participate in all of these events and keep her restaurant going. Corine shared some exclusive news with us about the future of her business. Tune into the episode to see where Corine and her business are headed. Be sure to follow her on Facebook, Instagram and try the wings when you visit  her - they’re my favorite!

Now that you've seen a little more plan a visit to the food court at the Lakes Mall or order one of her delicious cakes!  As we work to show you how the culinary community is coming together keep in mind that supporting local is key and that a healthy and hearty food scene in any community is a draw for others to come and find out more of what's offered in town.  From Soul Food to Authentic Mexican to burgers, steaks and more...Mari is on a mission to have a lunch date with the purveyors of all things mouth watering.  Stay tuned!
