Cars for Cancer returns to the Lakes Mall this weekend and it's an event unmatched in the area for it's draw, it's purpose and the amount of growth we've seen since it began.  The Different Strokes Car Club got to work a few years ago on a Labor Day Weekend event that would become a stable for not only car lovers from all over Michigan, but also a major fund raiser for the Johnson Family Center for Cancer Care at Trinity Health in Muskegon which most, if not all of us will have some kind of contact with at one point or another.  Cancer is awful.  There's no other way of looking at it.

Bill Hill and Wayne Ferrier are joining Brain Harris today at the Norton Shores PD to talk about the return to full force of this years Cars for Cancer event as well as how it's grown over the years and the impact that been made by their croup of car lovers.  Take a listen.

The Sunday night kick off cruise is where it all begins with a nice ride all over the county and beyond as well as maybe a little partying back at the Lakes Mall grounds till about 11p.  Then on Sunday it begins with a delicious pancake breakfast done up by the Knights of Columbus which will actually be inside the old Sears building at the Lakes Mall so come on out anytime after 7 and get filled up!  The the Sunday show gets under way.

Close to 1000 cars are expected.  You'll find everything you love about a car show.  From great music and fun to pin up contests, door prizes, live auctions, vendors, grocery giveaway's and more!  The nostalgia of the custom cars and trucks and the wondering about who might get one of the top three trophies per class!!  There's a public vote too for the cars, so make sure your voice is heard!

The fun atmosphere is an important part of the event, that's for sure, but the purpose....it's near and dear to all of us.  Taking care of the Johnson Family Center for Cancer Care is paying it forward to help assure that anyone in Muskegon who's effected by this dreadful disease, gets the best treatment possible, right here at home.  It's free to stroll through for spectators and donations will be gladly accepted.  Cars are only $10 to participate.  Hundreds of thousands of dollars have been raised by remarkable people who truly make a year round effort to bring home 2 days of fun with purpose over a holiday weekend!  Make sure you stop out and enjoy Cars for Cancer over the holiday weekend and support such an amazing, growing and selfless giveback to those who need healing from cancer.
