If the happily ever never comes and let's just say along the way to the unplanned finish line, a critter or two has come along....well, chances are there will be some child support involved and since Shon Cook is a highly qualified Family Attorney and our great sponsor and contributor.....we're going to let her share some thoughts.

First off, child support is your responsibility.  Pay something....anything if you are committed to it.  Even if your entire life changes, find a way to put something toward it.  Next, child support is based on a number of factors that need to be looked at carefully and maybe re-evaluated over time as life situations change as do economic situations.  One thing is pretty clear in Shon's thoughts today, in the child support world...chances are that neither parent will be overly thrilled with their end of the deal.  If it's the payor....they will think they are paying too much and of course, the payee.....it's not enough.  Take a listen.

The most important thing here....the kid or kids. Let's remember that they are the ones that are in the middle here and not really wanting to pick a side.  If things couldn't work out for you, remember that the individuals that you've created are going to need parents and if you can't be together in marriage, try to be together enough for them.  Shon also offers mediation services if your situation requires a little more than discussion among parties, but you'd rather avoid litigation.  You can call Shon at 231-894-0909.  This email address is being protected from spambots.
