It's a visit to Big Lake Humane this week with Jodi and Olaf to talk about all things pet adoption and fostering....and what it takes to help your new forever friend get used to the new surroundings.  Dog Blessed is brought to you by Must Love Dogs and Clock Timeless Pets.

If you are adopting or fostering, it's all in here for the people who know it best.  It's an encompassing process and one that's not taken lightly on either end, and that is on purpose because when you're adopting a pet...chances are they are coming from a situation that's been less than ideal and to assure them a better future, the vetting needs to happen first.  At Big Lake Humane, their incredible staff will take the time to help in either scenario.

If you are going to foster, you'll get a nice take home bag to help with the give.  It's a chance to see if you and your selected pet are a good fit, or maybe you'd just like to give a pooch a weekend out?  If adopting, there's a whole lot of thing to think about when you bring home your new four legged friend.  First....baggage.  Your new pet has been through an ordeal.  They need some time to adjust to new sights, sounds, smells and other stimuli.  It's an entirely new world to them, all of the sudden.  Imagine you being in that mindset?  Next, let's stop and think about that bond.  It's going to take a bit for them to get to understand that they are safe, secure and have people around them that won't put them in the predicament they came from.  That's big.  Also, there may be a need to get used some other pets in the home or maybe the neighborhood.  Lots to consider, and Big Lake Humane is there to help every step of the way.
