An event that was sorely missed over the lass few years and when tried two years ago, outside...well, it got a little wet. Last year, things returned to OV and got back to "normal" with lighter restrictions and now, the event is back to full speed and right where it should be on August 4th! The Senior Community Day is happening at Orchard View High School August 4th and the group putting it on, the Senior Marketing Group is inviting YOU or maybe you and your parents if they are not all tech savvy and on the internet. That means you need to tell them about this. We try to point out the obvious :)
From their website, "Senior Marketing Group of West Michigan is a group of professionals from an array of businesses that provide services to the aging population in West Michigan. These professionals include Business Owners, Consultants, Marketing Professionals, Service Providers and Business Administrators. Every one of them are committed toward working together to educate and inform the seniors in the area about the available services and options that would improve their quality of life during their golden years." The vendors and sponsors make this happen. Great places like Care Patrol of West Michigan and Senior Resources and Senior Perspectives Magazine are the title sponsors along with so many others who offer great values as well as important information.
The Senior Community Day on August 4th is the yearly event that draws together the business that serve seniors to not only inform in a group, but they show their appreciation by providing a continental breakfast and lunch to the attendees. There are great opportunities to learn about programs like Safe Seniors who will teach people about ways to assure that scammers and abusers don't make it far... and programs about lighter subjects that can enhance and entertain. Vendors and booths will be set up with information and useful items and one of the biggest parts of all of this...connection. The opportunity for seniors to come together and hang out. Yes, even in the older years finding a way to connect and commiserate is such an important part of life. A day out to share some excitement and fun...all for free, it's not to be missed.
I was joined by Renee Wiard, Lisa Lucky and Wendy Little at the Grand Traverse Pie Company to get the info on all the fun stuff to do, take a listen and we'll plan on seeing you there!
