Jodi Jarvis-Therrian is here this morning with a very interesting way to not only help your dog or cat get some essential nutrition from an unsuspecting source.  Jodi is the expert when it comes to all things pet here at the Muskegon Channel, and to hear from her weekly about what you may have never thought of as a nutritional solution as well as a way to repurpose leftovers and strengthen up some bones....listen up!

Egg shells! Yes, they are calcium rich and usually tossed out as soon as they are cracked or some may use them in various ways like plant or garden fertilizer, making homemade chalk, some put egg shells in bird seed, and others say they deter garden pests.  Jodi on the other hand grinds them up into a fine powder.  A really fine powder once they are thoroughly cleaned by boiling them again (if you had hardboiled eggs) or boiling them after use to rid them of any contamination.  Once finely ground...a sprinkle on top of the food is what it takes to add a very healthy dose of calcium to your pet's diet and you didn't have to spend another penny to add the benefit.

There are some other things Jodi wants to share with you this week. She's also sharing one of the adoptable pets at BIG LAKE HUMANE.  We do our best to help find forever homes for those pets who need the love all pets deserve.

We are thankful to our amazing sponsors Clock's Timeless Pets and Must Love Dogs Pet Boutique in Grand Haven for their support of Dog Blessed on the Muskegon Channel.
