It's been a couple weeks since we've heard from Shon Cook.  She's an incredible Family Attorney in Whitehall and very valued sponsor of the work we do here on the Muskegon Channel and Positively Muskegon and for her to spend some time explaining the reality of the legal system in plain English has been remarkably beneficial to our viewers and it's also a great way to see the human side of the law as Shon often talks about her clients and the impact they have on her as a person and professional.  One thing is for sure, Shon never quits learning.

This week, we're talking adoption.  There are 3 kinds of adoption as it turns out.  They relate to the circumstances that kids and families find themselves in.  Adopting a child through a marriage is one, then there is adoption out of foster care and finally there's the kind of adoption where the birth parents give up the baby after the baby is born.  None of these are what you'd call an easy process and one of them is partly why Shon was so involved in work over the last couple of weeks and she shares some details of the process with us in this chat.

As per any legal circumstance, specifics of any case should be left up to qualified legal professionals like Shon for these complicated matters.  The conversation here is beneficial in the structure of the process and gives general best practices and procedures, but as you'll hear with this conversation especially, there are a LOT of things in play when it comes to adoption, and like the master she is, Shon explains them all.  Take a listen.

It's amazing the depth Shon goes to to help her clients, and it's amazing too that she can share all of what she does for them in simple terms that anyone can understand.  If you are in need of a Family Law Attorney who's passion for clients goes above and beyond at all measures, call Shon at 231-894-0909 or you can This email address is being protected from spambots.
