Muskegon, it's known for one thing and that's making sure needs are met no matter the challenge life throws our way.  It might be an economic downturn,  maybe it's a natural problem we can't predict or defend against, or maybe it's a pandemic that only comes along every 100 years that we never thought we'd see.  We know how to circle the wagons and make sure those who can't care for themselves are taken care of the best we can.  It's not that we're an overly affluent community, it's not that we've got the deep pocketed donors who can use the money they make off interest to give back a little...no it's much more than that.  We have people here who genuinely make a sacrifice to take care of each other.  This is the overly wonderful part of "us".  Most of us know what it's like to need a hand to and to give one in return is a payback to what's been given.

It's been a very hard time on organizations as much as individuals and our amazing sponsor Shon Cook had the idea to get the ball rolling for some of the area non-profits that might be struggling making ends meet a little as well as help get their names out there.  Let's be honest, when it comes down to meeting needs, one of the first things that's in line to be cut is raising awareness and even cutting back on the budgets to host a fundraiser.  We've seen it over and over from so many organizations in the last 12 months.  Everyone has tried, but with the isolation comes a little lack of connection and we all know how impactful that connection is to help raise some much needed funding.  Well, today, you're going to get connected....and ya, we're going right at the heartstrings. berteMuskegon Humane Society on Facebook

Alexis Ogborn is the Executive Director of the Muskegon Humane Society.  She's been a guest of ours a few times over the years and her love for animals is incredible.  She's an amazing advocate for their care and for responsible pet ownership.  The last time we visited with Alexis, it was for a big endeavor.  Petco was in town to gift them a major amount of money for their work like they have for so many other animal care organizations in and around town and we were invited to be part of the festivities.  It was quite a day.  Well, back to the idea of humbleness in our giving here in Muskegon, we might not be able to match what was given the last time we met, but...we certainly can dig in a little and do what's right for those who care for those who can't take care of themselves....we call it stepping up.  Care to join us?

She didn't really play fair bringing in the puppy did she?  We warned you this one was going right at your heart strings.  The Muskegon Humane Society does amazing work, with limited resources and has kept it all going in a time when it's gotten even harder.  The Muskegon Humane Society is also a no kill shelter which means that they work with the animals until they find their forever home.  Our gift today is a small in the grand scheme of things, but it's a start!  Would you like to help?  You'll find a link to the Muskegon Humane Society's website below and right there on the front page, a button that says "Donate Now".  Every little bit helps.  Our thanks to Alexis and Shon today for another chance to Step Up!
