It comes around once a year and for some, it's a very welcome relief to the day to day routine that they may face as a senior citizen in the community.  For the last few years, the Senior Community Day has been held at Orchard View High School and put on by the Senior Marketing Group who continues to spread it's reach and message to our community of aging people.  Having been a part of it for a few years, I can't tell you personally how much of a joy it is to see folks out interacting, learning, enjoying a free lunch and gathering up information on products and services that can make a huge impact in their lives.  With last year being yet another cancellation due to the pandemic, this year things are changed up a little and all of that fin and information will be outside and in a very familiar setting of Hackley Park on Friday August 6th.

It's pretty much an all day affair.  The public is invited beginning at 10a and the event runs until 1p.  There will be 40 plus vendors there with information and helpful things for people.  There will also be entertainment, food provided, fun door prizes to give away and so far, the weather is looking picture perfect for the day in beautiful Downtown Muskegon.  If you have not been out in a while, this is a great opportunity to come out in a safe environment to enjoy some companionship that's not inside and if memory serves me properly, it's also a pretty good chance to stock up on pens and other things that are passed out as gentle reminders of who to call when you need help.  The amount of seminars that have been traditionally held in the school, well, they are scaled back a little this year understandably as people try the new layout and see how it goes, but adaptation takes a little flexibility and safety is paramount. register 21Please Register Here to Attend

They are asking attendees to pre register for this event.  It will help on the accurate count for lunches that need to be served and it will give a close estimate to those planning on their displays to know how many to expect and prepare for.  You can find the registration link to the right and it's only a few simple questions that they are asking.

Wendy Little is part of the Senior Marketing Group.  We met up via digital meeting, like everyone does anymore to talk about this years event and some of the changes to expect.  Take a listen to the valuable information and we'll plan on seeing you next Friday at the event!

It's really a nice day provided to our senior community by the business that serve them and those who they rely on for the goods and services they need. The new location is ideal for a nice mid-day outing and some time out and about in the fresh air and beautiful surroundings of Hackley Park.  If you or your parents might be able to take advantage of all of this there is to offer, don't delay.  Get yourself signed up for Friday August 6th and we'll see you Downtown Muskegon.
