Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lakeshore is 52 years strong and works to help young people who need a positive role model in their life find that friend and allow a bond to be built that lasts and turns into a rewarding experience for both. More often than not, it's beyond a rewarding experience, it's a life changing endeavor. We work so hard to find ways for our younger people to know that they are cared for and while it's true that many other options have come along and some may be newer and have a little more buzz around them, it's the collective work of all of them that gives kids a chance to find the right fit, even if it's a combination of offerings. For 52 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lakeshore has been a mainstay.
With the last year and a half or so, the world has been a little topsy turvey for BBBS. Understandably so. Like many others adaptation and learning ways to do things that were never even thought of became the norm. Sometimes innovation comes when it's least expected. Online fundraising, outdoor events, online meetup's with Big's and Little's and the tireless work of those in the agency to innovate and reimagine. As this fall comes about there are some unique opportunities for some benefits as well as super fun experiences for program members as well as the general public to learn more, benefit this remarkable organization and enjoy some fun. It's an essential organization and the tradition is a sound one. Anyone can use a positive influence in their lives and if you can find the time to reach out and be a part, please do. Think back to when you were you were young and who had those positive influences on you? Did it take a lot of time? Did it take a lot of money? Did it take anything more than just that person being who they were to give you something to aspire to? That's all it is now, too.
