It was an evening that began with quite a buzz and sense of mystery in the air as The Community Foundation of Muskegon County was set to present their first ever "Impact Award" on October 7th at the historic and beautiful Frauenthal Center in Downtown Muskegon.  A buzz because it began with a chance for people to gather together and catch up a little and mystery.... because no one knew who the award was going to and it took some doing to get the recipient there.

A cocktail hour was followed up the attendees gathering inside the theater to hear a wonderfully dynamic Key Note talk from Brianna Scott who shared incredible tales of her life and how even though she felt a "square peg" at times in her past, her "community" no matter where she was at the point in her life found ways to help support her through the tough stuff and when times were good.  It was a stirring and engaging revelation of what goes into making a leader like Brianna and how she works to give it all back.

Next up was the presentation of the inaugural award.  Literally no one in the audience had an idea of who was to get it and as the accolades poured out over the accomplishments and accolades earned by Dr. Dale Nesbary who's the president of Muskegon Community College.  His striving for excellence and willingness to grow the college beyond the greatest of imaginations has been an incredible lift to all of our area and there was no one who felt much different as the award was presented.

We were on hand to catch the entire event!  If you were unable to attend of just want to hear the goings on and inspirational words, we present it in it's entirety right here.  You can also find it on the Muskegon Channel for Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices and it will be running locally on Comacst Cable Channel 96.

An honor to say the least. No matter the circumstances, people like Dr. Nesbary and Brianna Scott continue to lead by example and show us the strength in us all and that drive that sets Muskegon a part on every level.  Our many thanks to the Community Foundation for having us out as well as their efforts to recognize the best among us who refuse to think any differently than how incredibly fortunate we are to call Muskegon home and work together for the betterment of us all.
