The Public Safety Youth Fishing derby is an annual event in Muskegon since 1993, 29th year as of 2022. Each year the event bring together law enforcement members, youth and community together to build relationships. Each youth were taught how to fish and were given free fishing equipment where they can keep practicing their skills afterwards. The program is funded by sponsorships and donations through the years and the Muskegon Pulaski Lodge has been a continuous donor since the derby's inception. Today, the closing lodge donated $224,000 into a community foundation fund specifically to support the youth fishing derby program, this donation will ensure the operation of the fishing derby program for years to come. At the 3-22-22 City Commissioners Meeting, The City of Muskegon and it's commissioners gave official recognition and thank you to the lodge and its member for their support of Muskegon Police Department and the youth fishing derby program.
