A night out on the Aquastar Cruise Ship is a unique experience to Muskegon. It's a staple attraction here and it's also used all season long to help support some of our areas agencies that protect and defend the vulnerable among us. Every Woman’s Place strengthens families in Muskegon County and provides services for victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and sex trafficking. The have been doing so for over 45 years. June 27th you're invited on a cruise on Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan to help benefit this essential organization.
Catherine Gage is the Development Director for Every Woman's Place. She's with us for the first time this week and shares a little bit about what got her her to be a part of the organization. It's a great tale of past experience. The work that needs to go on to help those recovering from domestic abuse is extensive and to help bolster the strength of the organization is why they hold events like this cruise or Power of the Purse later on in the year. There's plenty of volunteer and peer support at Every Woman's Place, professional help is needed too. There's also their amazing outreach for education and advocacy that takes some funding, so to be a part of something bigger than yourself is all that's being asked, and in return, you'll find a pretty good time.
The "Strengthen" event on the Aquastar will feature live jazz music, dancing, stories from survivors in a setting where they can tell you one on one what happened and how Every Woman's Place helped them to get back on their feet and able to share their experience, strength and hope. There will be appetizers, a cash bar with one drink ticket provided, and a nice auction going on so you can bid on a take a way item to remember that you did your part to help. The sunset and the cool breeze out on the water....those are the icing on the cake and they generally come with every cruise on board the Aquastar.
