Saturday, October 28th could not have been a more picturesque fall day in Cedar Creek Township in Muskegon County. After years of work in dreaming, planning and working to fund it all.....what's come of the one time "field" is now a growing green space with amenities for all ages and physical abilities.
It was a simple gathering. Cider and donuts. There was a small silent auction and bake sale. Lewis' Adventure Farm and Zoo provided free pumpkins for the kids, Northshore Dental Associates had precisely the right amount of dental kits for kids that dared to try the "World's Shortest Corn Maze" and to see the community itself come out with contributions like a handmade quilt, home made grape jelly that almost didn't make it to the start of the show people wanted it so much. Right up till the start, friends and neighbors were still showing up to contribute something.
Great music from Cross Country set the mood and Just Klassics was busy all day. Just Klassics started off at the Twisting Trails Snowmobile Club (also in Cedar Creek Township) and then came over to feed the masses at the park. Hay rides, community building, plenty of candy and a ribbon cutting were some of the activities that helped launch what will be a multipurpose resource for the residents of Cedar Creek Township and all of Muskegon County and beyond. It's picturesque, it's vast in space and scope and there's more to come once spring, springs and the pickleball courts and walking trail go in...the space will become more beloved for all.
Currently, the playground focuses on activity for both kids and older people with a variety of equipment designed for all capabilities and physical levels. It won't be long, and Cedar Creeks park will be a destination for family reunions, weddings, class reunions company picnics and more. There is plenty of room for electric hook up and reservations can be made for the space by calling 231-821-0041.
