Shon Cook of Tabono Law was the architect and inspiration of Step it Up Muskegon and along with Scherdel Sales and Technology we've given close to $30,000 do local non-profit organizations over the years.  Shon is also an amazing sponsor of our work and shares her legal expertise with us weekly to help those who don't have to navigate the legal waters day in and day out understand the intricacies of the field.  Our Step it Up recipient this week was Mediation and Restorative Services of Muskegon and after we presented the donation, Shon kept on talking mediation.

Mediation is the way to settle differences legally that leaves YOU the option of having a say in the outcome.  This writeup could easily stop right there.  That's the message.  If it's not settled in mediation and moves on to the court, things change dramatically and the outcome goes into the hands of an impartial judge who's got rules and guidelines to follow when it comes to the decision making and in the litigation world, the goal is for the decision that is best by the laws they way they are written.  Mediation leaves room for consideration between disputing parties.  Things like housing situations, custody, possessions and more?  Is that something you'd like to be decided impartially?  Mediation can be an amazing effective solution and is offered by Tabono Law as part of their compliment of services.  It's not ALWAYS a solution as you'll hear Shon outline, but it's a great first step that leaves those in conflict able to try and decide together what's best.
