The Women's Division Chamber of Commerce is an incredibly active group in Muskegon who use their collective influence to get some pretty remarkable things started as well as some pretty remarkable thing funded. Founded in 1951 by a group of "civic minded women", the organization has grown to over 260 women today. Over the course of the year, you'll find events like Dancing With the Local Stars which raises money for area food banks. They also host a gigantic indoor sale called Trinkets and Treasures and Downtown Dancing at the Muskegon Farmers Market kicked off last year to great crowds and a lot of people coming back to Downtown Muskegon to witness first hand the renewal going on.
For today, we're focusing on the Fashion and Frolic event coming up at The Holiday Inn Muskegon Harbor on May 4th from 4:30p-8p. Tickets are close to sold out for the event, but if you act quickly, you'll be able to support the work the WDCC does in town, and you'll get to enjoy the fun theme this year of "Springtime in Paris". There will a silent auction, you'll find local vendors and shops set up inside the event. There will be a really nice style show after the dinner at 6:15 so you can get an idea of what the Spring and Summer trends will be.
Linda Sisco is one of the event chairs from the Women's Division Chamber of Commerce and she met up with The Muskegon Channel's Gaberielle Butterfield at the Skye Blu Boutique in the Century Club Building Downtown Muskegon to learn a little more about this years great event. Take a listen to their talk below.
From making sure the food pantries are stocked to making sure Muskegon has a place to move their feet with Downtown Dancing, the WDCC really does some amazing things to make Muskegon a great place to live or visit.
