Calling all outdoor lovers and enthusiasts. If you have an outdoor loving family like mine you are going to want to join in on the free Kids Fishing Contest. This contest will be held at Goodrich park and is hosted by White Lake Area Sportfishing Association.

My family and I love to be outside, whether it's going on a hike, fishing, hunting or going out in our boat we all have so much fun. That's why I just knew I had to find out more about this fishing contest when I heard about it.  So let's get down to the nitty-gritty and talk about this free family fun. This contest will be held Saturday June 10th at Goodrich Park in Whitehall. The contest will run from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Registration for this event will also be free and will be held at the Goodrich Park pavilion from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. wlasfaWhite Lake Area Sportfishing Assoc on Facebook

Now there are some rules that will need to be followed like only fishing at Goodrich Park to the White River fishing Bridge or the lions den. You cannot however fish on the marina docks. Another big rule is that you have to be able to come back to Goodrich Park pavilion to way in your monsters (fish) by noon no exception.

After you come back to weigh in your fish don't forget to grab your free lunch. If your children are anything like mine they will definitely be looking forward to the prices. There will be three separate categories based on ages    (3-6, 7-10, 11-16). Every child that is entered in the contest who is present at the end of the award presentation will receive a gift bag. There will be a whopping 60 winners all together. The prizes will be awarded to the top 10 winning fish in each age category by gender.

Mike Schiller joined me today from Goodrich Park to share a little about the event.  Take a listen to the chat below.

If you don't want to join in on this contest the DNR has given the green light for a no license fishing weekend but you do still have to follow the state laws and regulations for fishing. If you need any more information you can watch the video link or you can visit the White Lake Area Sportfishing Assoc website for more information.
