As a mom of three young children having family friendly activities that are close and that doesn't break the bank are important. This coming week is Spring Break for a lot of local schools and not everyone is going to be able to leave town on vacation. If you are like my family and I you may be staying home but would still like to have some fun. I have done a little searching and I have come up with some ideas that are free or nearly free and are right here in Muskegon county.
The first stop on this staycation trip will be to the Lakeshore Museum Center to talk about their Spring Break Open House. The open house is going to be on Tuesday April 3rd from 10:30 am – 12:30pm. During the event you will be able to join in on the #hashtag game that is going to be going on. (Ask front desk for more information on how to play) You will also be able to visit one of the new temporary exhibits that will be at the museum until September. The secret of Bees exhibit is a fun way for you and your little ones to get a hands-on learning experience and don’t forget to visit the mastodon after you play in the wind tunnel.
Next I stopped at Frauenthal Center to talk about the free family movie night that they are having. On Wednesday April 4th the Frauenthal will be showing Where the Wild Things Are at 3-5pm. This is a completely free event thanks to some special donors. If you need more information you can call 231-722-9750.
The last stop is going to be the Muskegon Museum of Art to talk about their Pajama party that will be held Thursday April 5th from 6-8pm. At this party you will be able to listen to a story read by someone from the Hackley Public Library, participate in an activity with friends from the Lakeshore Museum Center. And you can get inspired by all of the art around you when you are making your own in the art activity provided all while you are having a hot drink from the hot cocoa station.
If you are looking for something outside to do with your family we have some of the most beautiful parks, trails and beaches in West Michigan. Pack some drinks and a sack lunch and take a literal hike with the kiddos.
I hope that you all have a wonderful and safe family spring break Staycation here in Muskegon Michigan.
