Recovery Fest 2026 – A Party In The Park Minus the Substances – It’s Happening September 26th

There’s a party going on, the keg tapped might be root beer.  We are also published by a founder who wouldn’t be here had it not been for his own finding of sobriety 23 years ago.  The recovery community is growing in Muskegon and it’s a tribute to those who have decided that they ARE god enough and that their narrative of what was isn’t what’s to be.  When that begins in a community that’s long been “frowned upon” by the surrounding area, it’s a sign of deep fundamental change happening.  Life Align is in the recovery business.  Together, along with some of the other groups in town will be putting on their own Party in the Park September 26th.  Here come the details.

It’s an open an honest conversation between  Lisa Picard of Life Align and Jennifer Stewart from Health West and I.  If you’re a regular viewer, you may have heard it before, but I try to weave a little of my own personal story in to share the experience, strength and hope.  It’s what us recovery people kinda have to do to keep what we have, give it away to others.  It’s the way that the security net is built that those who are addicted need as they begin.  Lisa Picard at Life Align is there to help daily with those in the early stages and Jennifer Stewart with Health West works with Talk Sooner, which is an agency that helps get some funding to the agencies that assist in helping people make that first step away from a substance and on to a life of freedom.

Recovery Fest isn’t a “health fair”.  Yes, you’ll probably find info there or a helping hand and understanding ear if you need it, but…it’s a party.  For those who are in recovery sometimes being around the environment where temptation is present is too much.  Let’s get rid of that one element, and throw a party.  Simple.  It’s free.  It’s open to recovering addicts and it’s a family friendly event.  Food, entertainment for grown up’s and kids alike.  People finding common ground, judgement free zone and a chance to exhale.  Relief.  We all need that respite.  Enjoy some inflatables for kids, a small petting zoo brought in from the Life Align Ranch, some raffles and more.  All of the details are in the interview.

Enjoy.  Don’t be afraid.  If you wonder what recovery looks like, don’t.  Recovery is your neighbor.  It’s someone you work with.  It’s someone at your church or other group.  It might be a guy with face tattoos or a woman with multiple piercings.  Recovery is very human, and no matter who that human is, they are worth celebrating.  Recovery Fest is here to do just that.
