When Hamburger Mikey opened in downtown Muskegon in November of 2016 I couldn’t wait to try a “smash burger”. Myself and Mrs LT stopped in one day for our first visit and it was life changing. Not only because the burgers and fries were amazing (and they were) but because I met Tim Taylor. Tim, or the Mad Scientist as I like to call him, is truly one of a kind and we are so fortunate to have him here in Muskegon.
He’s got a heart bigger than his smile and he truly cares about this community. Soon after we met I started talking about him on the air at the radio station, again not because the food is great but because Tim loves to give back to people who have made Mikey a success (follow Hamburger Mikey on Facebook for more details on giveaways). Whether it was dancing in a pink tutu on Western Ave or Dancing with the Local Stars, Tim is always looking for ways he can help. That’s why I decided to stop by and visit him and his 2nd Hamburger Mikey location, this one in Spring Lake and see what’s going on.
He’s always looking for new and interesting collaborations for his Burger of The Month (B.O.M.) and always tries to keep it local, whether it be a bakery or brewery or blueberry farmer. He recently added Hotdogs (Dawgz) to his menu and of course they are unique and delicious ! I think if you check out this interview you’ll get a better perspective of the man behind the burgers and fries…and shakes…and dawgz. His energy is infectious and he has more drive than that pink bunny with the drum ! I don’t say this about too many people but I love Tim Taylor and am proud to call him my friend.
